WORKSHOPS:

Month’s Mind

During the events immediately surrounding a loved one’s loss we often have very little time to breathe. Using the Scots-Irish-Celtic tradition of a “Month’s Mind” as inspiration, this workshop centers on celebrating your loved one’s life and making space for the love you continue to give them.

A Month’s Mind celebration is traditionally held one month from a person’s death, however any day is appropriate. Whether the anniversary of your loved one’s birth, loss, a special date you shared, or just a random day, the purpose is allowing yourself time after the quiet comes to focus on the person’s life and their influence on your life.

The workshop is appropriate for 2 to 10* family or friends and begins with a moment of mindfulness to focus attention on your loved one. A brief introduction to hand working clay into a form follows. As we settle into a rhythm of moving the clay through our fingers, participants organically contribute stories of the person being remembered.

Workshops last three to four hours. All materials and firings are included. Finished works are fired afterward and available for pick up in about two weeks.

$75 per person
*More than 10 participants is negotiable, but smaller intimate groups are best for this activity.
*Rate is for participation at my home studio in Lugoff, SC. This workshop is adaptable to most spaces, but additional fees will apply for travel, transport, and return of completed works.
